Why Does Each Topic Come in Five Different Colors? Why Aren't There More Topics Instead?

Hi there. That's another question I get asked a lot. Why only 16 topics when you've got 80 cards? If you have read my previous post ( Why Are There No Questions or Answers on the Cards? ) then you know that initially the idea was to have a set of card games for the sole purpose of teaching my students a group of very common verbs and then, teach them how to recycle these verbs depending on the situation. Now let's imagine there were 80 different topic cards and each topic appeared only once during a game, then there wouldn't much "exposure" to each topic, right? But since every topic card comes in 5 colors, there is enough chance for everybody to repeat or "recycle" each topic during a single game. Getting the Most Out of MEMORY GAME (and your students)

Hi there, Today I would like to share some ideas with you on how to get the most out of Memory Game in the English classroom.... For those who don't know this game, here's a quick outline... How to Play Memory Game Memory Game is easy to play and it doesn't require much preparation. It can be played by 2 or more people or 2 or more teams. ( but if you want to, you can actually play it alone ) Step 1 : Select 6, 8, 10 or more pairs of cards you want your students to learn/review. Step 2 : Put the cards on the table, face down. Step 3 : Player 1 turns over a card, uses the target language and turns over a second card. Step 4 : If the second card is a match, player 1 gets to keep both cards. If the second card is not a match, player 1 turns both cards over again (face down) and it becomes the next player's turn. The game is over when all cards are gone. Practicing 'DO YOU' Questions

Hi There! The other day I practiced 'Do you' questions with my students, using FIRST OUT . Using colored magnets Target Language: Purple : Do you ....? Orange : Do you like to ...? Pink : Do you want to ...? Blue : Do you have to ...? Green : Do you need to ...? The students could use the questions ' as is ' or, if they wanted, add 'every day', 'now' or 'after dinner' .
