"DOUBLE CHECK" Game? Exercise? (updated 6/6/18)

Hi there!

Here is a quick and easy way to make sure that your students know what they are talking about.

Split your class into pairs. (if you have a lot of students, make small groups)

Give one student (Student 1) in each pair/group a set of cards to review.

Here is how you play it:

1. Student 1 holds up the cards, showing only the bottom card to student 2.
2. Student 2 uses the target language.
3. Student 1 translates/says the target language in Japanese but is not allowed to look at the card.
4. If the Japanese is wrong, Student 2 repeats the target language until the student 1 gets it right.
If the Japanese is correct, Student 2 says "YES!" and Student 1 moves  the  bottom card to
the top of the stack, displaying the next target/bottom card.

When the first card shows up  again the game is over and it becomes Student 2's turn to hold the cards.

If a pair (or team) finishes early, you can give them either new target language to practice or you reverse things.... Student 2 now must say the target language in Japanese and Student 1 in English....

The target language can be whatever is written/shown on the card or a  structure you want your students to "Double Check".    For example:

           1)  "eat curry and rice"

           2)  "I like eating curry and rice , but I don't like eating fish"

Well that's it for today!  Please let me know how "Double Check" worked out in YOUR classroom.
In mine, it does wonders....
